The alphabet splits into a repeating nine-letter cycle: A, J and S equal 1; B, K and T equal 2; C, L and U equal 3; D, M and V equal 4; E, N and W equal 5; F, O and X equal 6; G, P and Y equal 7; H, Q and Z equal 8; and I and R equal 9. To find a name-based number, the Numerology Calculator converts every letter of a name to its value and adds them up: every letter for the expression number, vowels only for the soul urge number, consonants only for the personality number. A life path number reduces a full birth date to a single digit, or to one of three master numbers, 11, 22 or 33, which are left intact rather than reduced further. MysticalCalc's Life Path Number Calculator and Numerology Calculator strip the dashes from the date, add every remaining digit together, then repeatedly add the digits of that running total until the result is 1 through 9, unless the total lands exactly on 11, 22 or 33 first. Example: April 17, 1993 becomes the digit string 19930417. Adding 1+9+9+3+0+4+1+7 gives 34. Adding 3+4 gives 7, a single digit, so the life path number is 7. The same reduce-and-sum method also produces the expression, soul urge and personality numbers from a name's letter values, and the master-number check runs at every step, not only the last one.
